Learn Together
As children create their obstacle course, they are learning to problem-solve, make observations, and think creatively.

- Sheets or blankets

- Paper
- Crayons, pens, pencils, or markers
- Paper or binder clips
Imagine Together
- Come up with a secret code for your spies to uncover as they complete the obstacle course. This code can either be a short sequence of numbers or a word. Write down each number or letter on a piece of paper. As your spies complete each element of the obstacle course, they will be given a piece of the secret code.
- Create your secret spy laser obstacle course by taping string, yarn, or streamers from one wall to another in a room or hallway. Create highs, lows, and crisscrossing lasers to create a challenging laser course.
- Tape or clip a few numbers/letters of the secret code around the laser obstacle course for your spies to retrieve as they make their way through.
- Add other obstacles before or after your laser course such as:
- A tunnel made from a cardboard box or sheets/blankets and a table. A piece of the secret code can be placed inside or at the end of the tunnel.
- Put a twist on Simon Says by playing “Spy Says.” When your spies complete the game, give them a piece of the secret code.
- Place a long piece of tape or string on the floor and challenge your spies to a tight-rope walk.
- Hone your spies’ observation skills by playing a game of I Spy. If they correctly guess the object, give them a piece of the secret code.
- Put on your best spy disguise and see how quickly or quietly you can complete the obstacle course. At the very end, unscramble the secret code!
- Remember that spies leave no trace, make cleaning up your obstacle course an activity for the whole family.
