Learn Together
3-dimensional art making helps children learn to problem-solve and reason as they practice hand-eye coordination while cutting, pasting and experimenting!
Materials
- Toilet or paper towel paper tubes
- Scissors
- Paint
- Plates or bowls
- Paper
- Paintbrush (optional)
Make Together
- With a pair of scissors cut small slits (about an inch) around one end of your toilet paper tube. Try to make at least 4 slits.
- Pull back each slit to lie flat and watch your flower bloom! These will be the petals of your flower stamp.
- Hold the tube end in your hand like a handle and add paint to the top of your petals with a paintbrush. You can also dip your petals into some paint in a plate or bowl. What color will you choose first?
- Take a piece of paper and stamp away! This should make a flower design with the paint!
- Make as many flower stamps as you like, cutting bigger or smaller slits to create different flower shapes.
- Stamp different flower shapes with different colors on your paper to create a garden painting!
- When you’re done, let your stamps dry. You can use them again later or build a colorful sculpture garden in your living room with paper tube flowers!
