Move Together
Embrace the joy of dance in this virtual ABTots class all about the beauty of summer!
- Get ready to move with Ms. Smith and her dance partner Nettie as they show us how to emerge from a cocoon, bounce our knees like bumblebee wings, go for a swim in the ocean, play hopscotch, and fly like a beautiful butterfly. Clear some space on the floor, find some scarves or ribbons to use as your butterfly wings, and follow along with this video.
- Ok, dancers! Now it’s story time. Take a break and enjoy Ms. Smith’s reading of “Caterpillar Spring Butterfly Summer” by Susan Hood. Journey with a caterpillar as she transforms into a beautiful butterfly just in time for summer!
- Last, let’s make some sunshine that’ll last all year long! You can use Ms. Smith’s example from the video as inspiration or create your own unique sun.
- Cut out a circle from construction paper for your sun.
- Add some rays by cutting a few thin strips of construction paper and taping or gluing them on to the circle.
- Use markers, crayons, or colored pencils to decorate your sun. You can add a face, draw different patterns, or even draw some of your favorite summertime activities -– It’s up to you!
- Create a hole at the top with a hole puncher and tie a string through it. Hang it on a window so you catch some sunshine all day long.
