Are you ready for a fun cardio workout? Let’s get up and dance with Ajna Dance Company on this Move and Groove Tuesday!
First let’s start by stretching. It’s important to stretch and warm up your body before exercising.
- Reach your hands high above your head to stretch your arms and back.
- Reach your hands to the floor with straight legs and try to touch your toes. Bend and straighten your knees to get a nice stretch.
- Spread your feet apart so your feet are wider than your hips. Touch the floor.
- Reach to your right foot and put your nose to your knee to stretch your right leg. Do the same on your left.
- Roll up from the floor and stretch your left arm over your head towards the right side of your body. Do the same thing on the opposite side.
Next, let’s do a few cardio exercises to get ready to dance. Can you try to…
- Run in place for 10 seconds.
- Run in place picking your knees up high for 10 seconds.
- Do 10 jumping jacks.
- Bend and touch the ground, then reach and jump up high 10 times.
You’re all set to dance! Watch and follow along with Ajna as you dance to Twist Kamariya and Chogada.
- What does it mean to twist? How does your body twist in the first video?
- In the second video, do you notice every move is done on both the right and the left side of your body? Find a move in the video and practice it using both your right arm and your left arm.
- Do you feel your heart beat fast after dancing to both songs? Put your hand on your chest, your wrist, or the side of your neck and count your heartbeat while an adult times you for 15 seconds. Multiply your number by 4 and this is your heart rate!
