Learn Together
Using duct tape can be tricky because it’s so sticky! Children will develop fine motor skills, learn measurements, and work creatively as you make a one-of-a-kind gift.
Materials
- Duct tape (preferably colorful)
- Cardboard
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Exacto blade (optional)
- Sharpies (optional)
Make Together
Follow along on CMOM’s YouTube Channel and let’s make a Dad’s Day Duct Tape Frame!
- Grab a rectangular piece of cardboard roughly 6×8 inches.
- Measure 1 inch in from one side of your cardboard and draw a line 1 inch away from the edge using your ruler. Do this for all 4 sides.
- Now that you have a 1 inch frame drawn within your cardboard, cut out the center rectangle with scissors or an exacto blade.
- Start to wrap your frame with duct tape by ripping off 2-3 inch pieces and wrapping them around the frame, one by one, next to each other. It’s okay if they overlap. Do this for all 4 sides, avoiding the corners.
- For the corners, place a square piece of duct tape directly on the corner of the frame. The bottom corner of the duct tape should be touching the inside corner of the frame. Now, fold the duct tape in half behind the frame and cut off the excess.
- You can decorate your frame by coloring on the duct tape with sharpies.
- Add a picture of you and your loved one to the frame by taping it to the back. You can also draw a personalized Father’s Day picture or message to put in your frame!
