Dance Together

Dance is about showcasing our feelings with our body. Just like we show others how we feel with the faces we make, the words we say and write, and the pictures we draw, we use our body as a tool to show how we are feeling in dance!

First, think about your costume and stage:

  • What would you like to wear for your performance? What clothes or accessories make you feel confident and ready to dance? Put on something special!
  • Think of a place where you would love to dance right now. It could be on a beach, on a mountain, in a big theatre, or even in a relative’s house. Where is your stage? Let your imagination take you there.

Next, think about how you are feeling to tell your body how to move:

  • How are you feeling today? Are you feeling different than yesterday? Can you describe that feeling? It’s okay to have positive or negative feelings. Dance is great to express both!
  • Do your feelings make you want to jump high, sway side to side, or twirl? What kind of dance move shows how you are feeling?
  • What are 3 things or people that inspire you to dance? Why do you dance?

Ballet is a type of dance where we work on technique. Technique is important in dance because it helps us show our feelings to our greatest ability. It helps us build muscle and flexibility to jump higher, spin longer, and stretch our body farther.
