Move Together
Yo Re Mi combines music, yoga, and mindfulness education into an effective, inclusive, and imaginative experience that promotes a child’s physical, social, emotional, and mental health.
Today, Yo Re Mi will help us use yoga to create a landscape with our bodies. In art, landscapes are drawings or paintings that show a scene of nature. This could include mountains, lakes, gardens, rivers, and animals. Landscapes can be oil paintings, watercolors, gauche, pastels, or prints of any kind.
Let’s start by creating a landscape on paper.
- What will you use to create your landscape? You can draw a landscape using crayons, markers, or colored pencils, or you can paint a landscape with tempera or watercolor paints. You can use whatever coloring materials you have.
- What will your landscape include? Will your landscape have trees, a river, or an ocean?
- What time of day will your landscape take place? Will your landscape take place in the morning when the sun is just rising, or in the afternoon when the sun is high in the sky?
- Once you have completed your landscape, think about the different parts that make up your picture.
Follow along as Yo Re Mi shows us how to do the Sun Dance. In this video, we reach for the sky like the sun and stand tall like a mountain. We also turn into a few animals. Which animals do we pretend to be?
Now let’s become palm trees! See if you can reach the coconuts, but don’t drop them or you’ll have coconut pie.
